Reports in Italy are suggesting AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti wants a permanent deal for Wojciech Szczesny at the end of the season.
Szczesny joined Roma on a season long loan last summer and has impressed for the Italian giants so far.
It is the second successive year that the Poland shot stopper is spending at the Serie A club and he has subsequently established himself as a key member of their squad.
According to Corriere Dello Sport via gunnersphere.com, Roma now wants to do a permanent deal for the goalie.
The report claims Arsenal are willing to let the player leave and would sit down to discuss a move when his loan spell ends.
But there could be a stumbling block to the player joining Roma permanently. The report claims Arsenal will demand €18m for the goalkeeper services which Roma are reluctant to pay.
The Italian giants value the shot stopper less than Arsenal’s €18m and will try to sign the player for a lesser fee.
I am not sure about Szczesny’s long term future at the Emirates but one thing is certain, Arsenal will have to make a decision at the end of the season because his contract expires in 2018
Szczesny is reluctant to return to the Emirates to sit on the bench and there is no sign that current first choice Petr Cech will not be at the club next season, so his chances of staying at the Emirates next season is very slim, making a permanent move to Roma very possible.
While Szczesny will be a perfect successor to the Czech Republic man when he retires, it remains to be seen whether Wenger can find a way to accommodate both players for the main time.
