Borussia Dortmund sporting director Micheal Zorc has rubbished reports that Marco Reus could move to Arsenal at the end of the season.
Arsenal have reportedly lined up Reus as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who could leave the Emirates next summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
Recent reports suggest Wenger is prepared to spend up to €60m on the forward and also offer him a huge salary package worth £11m a year to lure him to the Emirates
But Zorc has laughed off those suggestions, claiming there is no truth in the rumors linking the player with a move to Arsenal and that the Germany international has not indicated that he wants out.
“I will not waste my time with half-baked rumours,” he told Bild, as quoted by Fourfourtwo.com.
“I do not know anything about it that Marco would like to leave us.”
Reus joined BVB from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012 and has established himself as one of Europe’s best forward, so it’s only normal for his club to play down reports linking him with a move to England.
I’m not even going to put my hopes on a deal happening because Arsenal haven’t shown in previous windows that we have the ability to convince clubs who are playing hardball in selling their players to do so.
I could go on and on to name some players who we have failed to sign because the club were tough in negotiations and as with every top player, signing Reus won’t be any easier.
It’s going to take special efforts to lure the player away from BVB and it remains to be seen if Wenger will be able to pull off something special.
