Club Ends Contract Talks With Star For Arsenal Or Liverpool To Make January Move.

Reports in the Daily Star suggest that Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed the initiative to make offers for West Brom striker, Saido Berahino, as Albion have chosen not to make him a new improved deal at the Hawthorns.

The 21-year old striker has been one of the best young players in the Premier League this season, his 8 League goals proving crucial for the Baggies bid to survive the drop this season.

Berahino, indeed, had began to attract interests from the top clubs right from last season where he shown glimpses of potential, especially in the win at Old Trafford in which he scored.

The speculation surrounding his future had led to the talk of a new copious package for the Burundi-born star to keep him at West Brom beyond the remaining two-and-a-half years of his running deal.

Having been called up, though unutilized, by Roy Hodgson during the last International break, his value would have had more substance. However, the Club’s officials have seemingly choked that plan to make him a new offer, easing the way for bids to be made from outside for his services.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been keen on landing Berahino since his breakthrough season a year ago and this situation with his contract could trigger the possibility of making bids in January.

While Wenger is somewhat spoilt for choice in the attacking front, with Giroud, Welbeck, Podolski and Alexis all fit and firing, with Walcott to return soon, Liverpool have pulled their muscles in replicating the pool of goals which was so freely flowing from Suarez and Daniel Sturridge last season.

New signings Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Lazar Markovic have not satisfied the goal requirements at Anfield, putting Kop boss Brendan Rodgers under intense pressure to procure a top marksman in January.

Berahino’s seen as a bright young talent who has all it takes to establish himself as an accomplished striker, both in the Premier League and on the International stage with England.

It could, however, be his attitude which is sometimes questionable, having been booked by the Police recently for drink-driving. A couple of heated bust-ups with teammates last season saw him dropped from the team at some point, and it could be that a summation of these incidents has created reluctance amongst the bosses at the Hawthorns in making him one of their best paid stars, leaving the doors wide open for him to seek greener fields in January.

He still presents a good bargain for any club at the moment, as he’s got the pace and predatory instincts to cut his teeth at a top club. Arsene Wenger has gained admiration for his peculiar man-management excellence, and should he chose to apply for Berahino’s services, it won’t be a task beyond the Frenchman to curb his excesses.
