Reports from France claims Arsenal have completed a deal for Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon and the deal will be announced this week.
However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Arsenal have bid for Lacazette.
Alaus has taken to Twitter to deny those claims and drop a bombshell.
He tweeted: “False Le Progres information: [On] the possible transfer of Alex [Lacazette]… he is not in London.
“The 1st offer [from Arsenal] was for €45m [£39m].”
He has revealed that Arsenal have bid for Lacazette but indicated their offer was not enough to convince them to sell.
Reports suggest Arsenal will have to pay as high as £47 million which will be the highest transfer fee he has ever paid for a player.
But the Gunners will need to up their offer, according to Sky Sports’ reporter Kaveh Solhekol explained.
He tweeted: “Lyon president says opening Arsenal offer for Alexandre Lacazette was £39m.
“(West Ham offered £43m last summer, Atletico £45m +£10m in May.)”
