Arsenal have joined the race to sign Braga youngster Pedro Neto, according to reports in Portugal.

Neto, 17, has been attracting interest from a host of top clubs including Barcelona and Manchester United due to his superb performances for Braga last term.

His fine form has also caught the attention of Arsene Wenger who has now made a move for the youngster.

According to Portuguese newspaper A’Bola via The Metro, Arsenal have made a €15m bid to sign Neto this Summer.

Although the bid was rejected, it is believed we are currently leading the race to sign the attacker as we are the only club to have made a concrete offer.

Neto broke into Braga’s starting xi towards the end of last season and has been drawing plaudits from highly rated football personalities, including Jose Mourinho who has dubbed him a future superstar.

Braga have apparently informed Arsenal that it will take a bid of €20m to tempt them into selling the youngster, meaning Arsenal just need to up its initial offer a little.

Barcelona are also said to be preparing an offer of theirs while Manchester United boss Mourinho is also watching Neto with keen interest.

Wenger has built a good reputation working with youngsters over the years and would be the right person to tutor a young talented player like Neto.
