Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in its pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.
The club is reportedly very interested in the Armenia midfielder as Wenger attempts to bolster his squad ahead of next season but the French man would now have to turn his attentions else where as BVB have ruled out the sale of the midfielder.
Reports in Russia last week claimed the Gunners were already in talks with the player’s representative and BVB as regards signing the midfielder.
The report also added that the player was already house hunting in London and would fly to the capital after Saturday’s DFB Pokal. But reports now coming out from German Publication, Bild via the Express claims the midfielder is set to remain at the Signal Iduna Park this summer as Dortmund don’t mind losing him for free next summer should he not sign a new contract.
With the imminent departure of Matt Hummels to Bayern Munich and expected exit of Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City, Dortmund are not prepared to lose any of their stars this summer again.
The German side have now decided against selling the Armenia playmaker despite the risk of losing him for nothing next year.
Chelsea have also been linked with the midfielder and it was claimed that the West London side would offer a mammoth fee to sign the playmaker but Dortmund’s decision will now come as a huge blow to Arsenal and Chelsea who have been hoping to lure the player to the Premier League this summer.
The midfielder enjoyed his best ever campaign this just concluded season, scoring 23 goals and making 32 assists in all competitions.
