Spanish giants Barcelona are monitoring Arsenal target Ilkay Gundogan according to reports.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in signing the German midfielder this summer with Manchester City also interested in the Borussia Dortmund midfield Maestro.

According to Spanish publication Sport via Turkish football website, Barcelona had scouts present in last weekend’s game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in order to run the rule over Ilkay Gundogan.

Few days ago, it was reported that BVB are willing to sell the midfielder at the end of the season and Wenger is interested in doing a deal with the German club regarding the midfielder.

But Barcelona could sign the midfielder ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City. It is believed that Barcelona who are reportedly in a mini financial crisis have been monitoring Gundogan for a long time and now feel he could be a cheaper option to Paul Pogba.

The midfielder’s contract at BVB expires at the end of next season and with the player uninterested in extending his deal, the German club are prepared to listen to offers for his services this summer.

The club would demand a fee of £23m and with Manchester City, Barcelona along with Arsenal already in the race, it could play into the hands of the Germans in terms of getting as much as they want from the sale.

Gundogan already has three goals and seven assists in as many games for BVB this term.
