Arsenal target Leon Goretzka has refused to comment on reports linking him with a switch to the Emirates.

In May, reports in Germany claimed Wenger had made the German his top target to strengthen the midfield this summer.

We have been constantly linked with him since then and his superb performances in the ongoing FIFA Confederation Cup led to talks of Arsenal preparing a £21m bid to sign him.

The 22 year old is regarded as one for the future. Ideally, Schalke wants to keep him but his contract expires at the end of next season and they could be tempted to sell him this summer in order not to lose him for free next year.

However, the player has refused to comment on speculations linking him with a move to Arsenal and has remained coy on his future.

Speaking after a Confederation Cup game in Sochi via Tribal Football, Goretzka said:

“I do not want to say anything about the transfer rumours, I’m focusing on the Confederations Cup.

“I’m not going to give state-of-play updates, but if there are facts, I will announce them.

“I’m not the type to be impressed by newspaper reports, I know what my qualities are, but I will not build myself up.”

The lad has been one of Germany’s best players  in the ongoing tournament and is expected to play a key role in the national team in the future.

Goretzka is also a versatile player. His ability to play in several midifeld positions without a drop in his performance is another quality that has made him a very attractive signing for the future.
