It was earlier reported that Arsenal fan favourite Tomas Rosicky looks to have called time on his Arsenal career after rejecting a reported one year extension and will seek out pastures new.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has publicly confirmed that Rosicky will remain at the club next season, putting an end to speculations about the player’s future.
“Yes, we have taken up the option (of a one-year contract extension),” boss Wenger told a news conference this morning.
“Tomas Rosicky is not involved in the transfer market at all, he will be with us next season.”
Rosicky, now 34, was said to have become frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities.
The former Dortmund playmaker has fallen down the pecking order partly due to injury and now finds himself behind Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere.
Rosicky who currently earns £80,000-a-week was signed back in 2006 for only £7 million and has been a good servant to Wenger.
