Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have begun negotiations over the transfer of Olivier Giroud, according to a report in Football Insider.
Giroud has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal since the arrival of Lacazette and he has continued to fuel those rumors with his comments.
Since traveling to Australia for the club’s preseason tour, Giroud was asked about his future in two different interviews and in both occasions, he refused to rule out a transfer away from the club.
While Wenger is hoping Giroud rejects all advances to stay at the club, The Mirror are claiming Arsenal and BVB have opened formal negotiations his transfer.
BVB wants Giroud to replace Chelsea bound Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arsenal have reportedly placed a £35m price tag on Giroud and BVB have opened talks with the Gunners, whether they will be willing to pay that much remains to be seen.
The French striker is also attracting interest from Marseille and Everton but the report claims BVB is his preferred destination.
Giroud started just 11 Premier League games for Arsenal last season and he is keen to play more, going into the World Cup competition.
The arrival of Lacazette for a club record £52m fee would make it a bit difficult for the former Montpeiller man, hence the reason he is keeping his options open.
Should BVB or any other club meet Arsenal’s £35m valuation, the club will not hesitate to sell him considering he is already 30.
