Arsenal have stepped up their attempts to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka. As Wenger close in on the midfielder as his first summer signing, via the Daily Mail.

Wenger has been linked with a move to sign the midfielder since the January transfer window. Wenger will finally get his man this summer as the German club are already resigned to losing their captain this summer.

It is believed that Arsenal are willing to pay £20m for the midfielder while the German club are holding out for a fee in the region of £30m. However the report claims both clubs are confident they will reach an agreement sooner rather than later.

With the Xhaka’s deal almost concluded, Wenger can now turn his attentions to signing other targets for other key areas in the squad.
