Arsenal are the only club to have tabled an official bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to the Squawka.

Mkhitaryan’s future has been subject of speculations in recent weeks. The player has only one year left in his contract at BVB and has so far refused to renew it, this has alerted Premier League clubs with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea having been linked with the midfielder.

But Squawka has now revealed the Gunners are the only side to hold a concrete interest in the 27 year old but are set to suffer disappointment in their attempts to sign the playmaker as BVB are prepared to lose him for free next summer than sell him this summer.

The German side have already lost key players this summer and are keen to prevent any of their remaining stars from leaving this year, hence their decision to keep Mkhitaryan against the player’s wish.

Dortmund chief Hanz-Joachim Watzke confirmed to Bild that a decision on Mkhitaryan’s future has been taken landing a huge blow to Arsenal

“We have been negotiating with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for four months for him to extend his contract with us.

“Now we know that it is not extended, it was never our commitment that Mkhitaryan may leave us prematurely.

“We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer in all club bodies and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay in Dortmund next season.”

Manchester United seem very interested in the playmaker with the player’s agent talking up a switch to Old Trafford.

The Mirror claimed last night that the Old Trafford club had a bid of £19m rejected but our source believes we are the only club to have tabled an official offer.

The exact amount tabled by Wenger is unknown but the French man’s activities show it will be a busy period at the Emirates in the next couple of months.
