AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti still wants Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny at the club next season.
The goalkeeper joined the Italian club on a season long loan last summer and went on to enjoy a wonderful season at the capital club.
The loan deal expired last month and the goalkeeper’s future is still very much undecided. It appears the goalie is not interested in returning to the Emirates just yet as he has already revealed he won’t return to the club as back up option to Petr Cech and it seems the club are prepared to let the Poland international leave due to Cech’s performances last term.
AS Roma have been trying to work on a deal to sign the goalkeeper again but has so far failed to reach an agreement with Arsenal. The Italian club boss has now revealed that they are still working on a deal to sign the goalkeeper.
“Both the goalkeepers [Alisson and Bogdan Lobont] are strong, but we still don’t have Szczesny,” Spaletti said.
“We have two strong goalkeepers, so we’ll see their reaction but that’s always an advantage. We’re working for Szczesny, for now we have Lobont.”
The goalkeeper made 34 appearances for Roma last term.
