Manchester City have joined the race to sign Arsenal target Kylian Mbappe, according to Sky Sports.
Mbappe is believed to be Arsene Wenger’s top summer target and we’ve already had an £87m bid rejected by Monaco for the teenager.
It is being claimed that Arsenal recently offered to submit an improved bid worth £123m but Monaco still refused to change their minds.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool have all registered their interest in the forward but Hunter has claimed that Arsenal will face added competition from Manchester City.
The Spanish football expert claim Guardiola is working hard to sign Mbappe as Arsenal continue to play hardball over Alexis Sanchez.
“City are talking actively to Mbappe’s representatives, saying they are best placed to develop his career, where he could work with Pep Guardiola and be paid handsomely,” Hunter told Sky Sports News HQ.
“Real Madrid, meanwhile, are wooing Mbappe’s agents saying they will break the transfer record for this kid.
Zidane, of course, has known Mbappe since he was 14.
“The battle is with Manchester City and they are persuasive and Mbappe is now thinking long and hard between London, Madrid, Paris and now Manchester. City are in that battle.
“At the moment it’s hard to see him choosing Monaco over one of those, but none of clubs know who is favourite to sign this exceptional 18-year-old.”
Guardiola’s interest in Mbappe may be surprising to many of us but come to think of it, who wouldn’t want to sign a player who has the world on its feet at 18.
Arsenal were always going to face serious competition in the race to sign Mbappe and City’s interest means we’ll have to continuing working hard to land our top target.
