Thomas Lemar is pushing to join Arsenal, this is according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli via Tribal Football.
Lemar is Arsenal’s priority target, having been identified by Wenger as the perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal have tried on two occasions to sign him but Monaco have turned down both bids. However, Wenger is not prepared to give up on the winger and a third bid worth around £45m is believed to be in the offing.
Giulianelli has now given Arsenal a huge boost in its attempt to sign Lemar by revealing the winger wants a move to Arsenal.
Reports in France had claimed he won’t try to force a move to Arsenal despite being happy with the interest in his services but Giulianelli claims otherwise. He says Monaco wants £53m for the 21 year old who is keen to follow his close friend Lacazette to the Emirates.
He tweeted: “Monaco have said they want £53m (€60m) from Arsenal for Lemar.
“Player pushing for the move. Confirmed. #AFC.”
Wenger is determined to spend big on the winger and will be relieved if Monaco have actually placed that price tag on him.
The reported third bid which is expected to be around £45m isn’t far away from what Monaco are now demanding. This would give Arsenal hope that it can reach a compromise with Monaco for the player to move to the Emirates before the end of the transfer window.
Lemar scored 14 goals and assisted 17 last season and will be a superb signing for our squad.
