Southampton have emerged as bookmakers favorites to sign Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs.

Gibbs is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, having fallen down the pecking order due to Sead Kolasinac’s arrival and he has been linked with a number of clubs.

Watford were close to signing him last month but Arsenal’s £15m valuation at that time proved to be too much for the Hornets.

The Gunners have since reduced it’s demands but there is no other concrete offer.

However, a report in the Daily Cannon has claimed, Southampton are leading the race to sign Gibbs.

The Saints could be in the market for a new left back as Ryan Bertand continues to attract interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

Arsenal and Southampton have a good relationship with each other because the Gunners signed Theo Walcott, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Calum Chambers from the Saints over the years but they could finally get one from Arsenal if they sign Gibbs.

The 27 year old defender is desperate to play regularly and would benefit from a move to Southampton if Bertrand moves on.

A bid in the region of £8m is now expected to snap up the defender who was left out of Arsenal squad currently in the middle east for its preseason tour.
