Spanish press are suggesting Nacho Monreal could stay at the Emirates after Wenger signed a new two year deal.
Monreal was recently linked with a move to Bilbao but a move is now uncertain after Wenger committed his future to the club. The boss is a big fan of the defender and have blooked Bilbao’s move to sign him on serveral occasions.
The La Liga club thought they will have a chance of signing the left-back if Wenger refuses to sign a new deal but they have been left disappointed because Wenger is now set to stay for another two years.
According to the Daily Cannon, signing Monreal has now become more difficult for Bilbao
While Arsenal may yet sell a left back, we are undecided on whom to sell. The arrival of Sead Kolasinac means either of Monreal or Gibbs would have to leave.
Since Monreal is 31, he may be the one to leave but it wouldn’t be an easy decision to make because he has been our first choice left back in the last couple of seasons.
Roma have also been linked with the defender but any suitor will have to try a bit harder if they are to sign the defender.
