Arsenal’s vacant manager’s job is not as attractive as many people are making out, claims ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno.

Arsenal are still yet to appoint a successor to Arsene Wenger, four weeks after it was announced he was leaving.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri was the frontrunner for the job last week but has since distanced himself from the job, claiming he is happy in Turin.

Arsenal now look to have turned their attentions to former captain Mikel Arteta, who is yet to manage at a senior level.

And Moreno says it shows the top managers, such as Allegri, do not see the Arsenal position as a step up from their current role.

“It feels that, it may just be, that this is not the job that people think it is,” the former Venezuela and MLS star said.

“You see, why, if you are managing a big club elsewhere, would you jump ship to come to Arsenal?

“Why? What is there about Arsenal that makes you think ‘you know what, I’m Massimiliano Allegri, I’m going to leave Juventus to come to Arsenal’?

“Is that an improvement? I don’t think so.

“Is that a step forward? I don’t think so.

“So to me Arsenal’s got to be very careful as to what this decision is and make it a priority that this club starts winning and winning consistently.

“How you’re going to do that with a new manager and players that are not all that great? Good luck.”
