Egypt international and Arsenal central midfielder Mohamed Elneny has reiterated his desire to continue lacing his boots for the Gunners, this is according to report.
Elneny joined Arsenal from FC Basel in the winter transfer window of 2016 but he has failed to established himself as a first team player. Arsene Wenger has favoured playing the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin ahead of the Egyptian star.
Last season, Mohamed Elneny sparingly featured for Arsenal as he came off the bench to play in 14 League games for the Gunners. The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal, with Leicester City making a £10m (€11.26) offer to prize the star away from the Emirates.
However, Elneny has quelled his possible departure from Arsenal this term, with claims that he considers Arsenal as his home.
“I consider Arsenal as my home,” said Elneny.
“I give all that I have to play in the starting 11 with the team and I’ll always keep improving to keep my spot.
“I am happy with the boss’s confidence in my quality and I hope to deliver my best in all the games.”
Elneny featured for the Gunners in their thrilling encounter against Leicester City on Friday and he came-off the game with an assist. The versatile midfielder may have to fight to displace Aaron Ramsey or Granit Xhaka from the midfield of Arsenal.
Arsenal have a large chunk of players above their wage bill and Wenger is looking to recoup funds from the sale of the players. Given the injury record of Arsenal, Wenger will not want to lose Elneny.
