Reports have emerged claiming Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.
That is according to German football expert Jan Aage Fjortoft.
Arsenal are understood to be closing in on a £60m deal for the Borussia Dortmund striker after finally making a breakthrough following a week of talks.
Dortmund had made clear they were prepared to sell Aubameyang if his asking price was met and Fjortoft believes only small details need to be sorted.
He wrote on Twitter: “Aubameyang-deal could be sorted today. Small details left on the contract between clubs. And player’s contract needs to be sorted.”
Fjortoft then added that Dortmund’s effort to bring in Anthony Modeste as a replacement is causing a problem.
He wrote: “The only problem could the replacement Dortmund want to bring in. Most likely: Modeste. Playing for the Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian FC.”
Olivier Giroud had been rumoured to be Dortmund’s preferred option to replace Aubameyang.
But the French striker could be making a £35million move to Chelsea.
