Arsenal are set to miss out on signing Borussia Monchenglabach midfielder Granit Xhaka after the club issued a hand-off warning to interested clubs regarding the summer move of the Swiss international.
Xhaka has been linked with a move to Arsenal since January, with reports in the German media stating that Arsenal already had a deal in place for him ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners need him to cover for Rosicky, Flamini and Arteta who are leaving the club in the summer after their contract expires and are expected to pay around £35 million for his services.
Arsenal seem to be set to enter negotiations but the Director of Sport at Monchenglabach Max Eberl has indicated that they will not entertain any interest in signing their captain whose contract that runs until 2019 has a £35 million release clause in it.
“Xhaka is our captain, that should be the case next season, there’s no need to call us. We want to keep him. There are no discussions” Eberl told London evening standard.
Granit Xhaka however admits he had always dream of playing in the Premier league, let’s see what will happen when push comes to shove.
