Juventus are set to end Arsenal’s hopes of signing Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.
The Argentine international has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates but it seems the club has now fallen behind in the race to sign the striker.
According to Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via Football Insider, Juventus have forged ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign the striker.
The report claims both Serie A clubs are set to enter into discussions over signing the striker after Juventus agreed personal terms with the player.
The report added that the Serie A Champions will include about four players in the deal to sign Higuain but are willing to meet the £78m release clause should Napoli reject player plus cash swap.
Wenger was hoping to reach an agreement to sign Higuain and even proposed a £41m + Olivier Giroud bid for the striker but it appears the French man has now slowed down his pursuit for the striker giving Juve the chance to overtake him.
Higuain has proven to be one of football’s elite strikers in recent years, scoring an impressive 36 league goals in 35 games last season. With the scarcity of top strikers in the transfer market, it would be a big blow should Juventus beat Arsenal to the signature of the Argentine Hitman.
