Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
It was claimed that a move was to be made for the Italian international in the January transfer window, but it seemed no offer was made by Arsenal as they prioritised the addition of attacking talent.
Rugani appears to still be a target for the Gunners, though, with the player’s agent telling Italian media that the North London outfit have indeed expressed an interest in the centre-back in recent times.
“Daniele’s doing well, I’m happy for him. Arsenal? They didn’t launch any assaults for him. They expressed a liking for him, but we have respect for Juventus.”
Arsenal were keen to land Jonny Evans from West Brom in January but their attempts to secure his signature were nothing more than derisory.
However, when the summer transfer window rolls around, a move for a central defender of higher prestige could be on the cards and Rugani is evidently a long-term target for Arsene Wenger.
He will not come cheaply, though, with Juventus regarding him as one of the club’s most promising players.
