Desperate Arsenal Send Scouts To Watch January Target But Chelsea & Man City Present Also.

According to reports, Arsenal has joined Chelsea and Manchester City in the monitoring of French forward, Paul-Georges Ntep, with scouts on hand to watch Rennes beat Monaco last week.

The 22-year old youngster has consistently been in the spotlight for his eye-catching displays at Rennes this season, averaging a goal every other game this season having scored 7 times in 16 appearances, including a brace yesterday away to David Ospina’s former club, OGC Nice.

Ntep, who plays either as an attacking midfielder or a second striker, is well acquainted with Yaya Sanogo from their time at Auxerre having moved to Rennes this season, as well as being partners in the forward line of the French Under-21s, and this will be an encouragement for Wenger to look to bring him to the Emirates. Perhaps, he becomes the real gem that ascends the throne.

Cheslea and City have been busy with the assessment of the player’s development, readying to plot a swoop on him. Ntep is believed to be one of Wenger’s young attacking talents for the future, with January a possible date for negotiations to be finalized and will face fierce competition from the big-spending duo. Both teams have two of the League’s top scorers in Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero but not much by way of younger back up options for the future.

While Alexis Sanchez has been our star man this season with his 14th goal of the season in 22 Arsenal games, he is not the team’s main striker and we remain in need of a top clinical striker on whom we could depend. Ntep’s averages over the past two years at both Auxerre and Rennes shows he has the potential to hit the very top of his career as a forward.

Sanogo has yet to kick on really since his free move last summer despite the huge promise he arrived with and linking Ntep to him may not be the best way to market his value to gooners. However, Ntep has proven to be free of any injury history that has defined both Sanogo and Diaby, and could be a real snip for us if we made a real move for him in January. The visit of the scouts should continue as the player’s progress will be key to any main decision to be made in the winter window.
