Arsenal, just as last season’s Champions League opener, have started their new campaign in a hugely disappointing fashion against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.
Arsene Wenger and his men suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Croatian champions Wednesday night, with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud picking up a red card in the first half of the encounter.
Wenger decided to rotate his team, possibly due to the vital clash against Chelsea in the weekend.
Our man of the match was Gabriel Paulista, while our flop of the match definitely goes to Mikel Arteta & Olivier Giroud.
Here are our ratings.
Theo came off the bench in the second half to correct the mess created by Giroud, and did well to pull one back for us. He should start against Chelsea in the weekend ahead of Giroud.
Joel just couldn’t stop himself from fouling the opponent, costing the team time which we desperately needed. His desire to impress clogged his thinking and so he made these mistakes over and over again.
Francis was among the lot that Wenger chose to rotate for the Zagreb clash. He was brought on after captain Mikel Arteta’s weakness in the midfield was exposed over and over again.
