Inter Milan are hoping a big-money offer amid contract uncertainty will be enough to lure Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
Reports on Sunday indicated that the Nerazzurri are set lodge a bid of around £69million for the Chilean forward, who is under contract with the Gunners until the summer of 2018.
However, with news that Sanchez is stalling over the signing of a new deal with Arsenal, Inter have made their move.
Don Balón reports that Frank De Boer has instructed Inter chiefs to go after Sanchez and is willing to sell Mauro Icardi in a bid to make room for the former Barcelona man.
It is understood that Sanchez is open to a return to Italy having flourished in Serie A with Udinese before joining Barca in 2011.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists the fact that player is yet to sign a new long-term deal is no cause for concern and reportedly expects the 27-year-old to stay in North London.
