Arsenal have beaten local rivals Tottenham and are on the verge of signing Bolton defender Rob Holding, according to reports.

Wenger has been linked with a number of top talents in England as the French man attempts to ensure the club’s future is secured. It is believed that Holding is top of Wenger’s wish list and the manager has now moved closer to signing the defender.

The Gunners had an initial bid of £750,000 rejected for the defender but it seems the club has now agreed an improved offer of £1.5m for the defender.

Holding was one of the few impressive players in a disappointing Bolton side, his impressive performances earned him the club’s players player of the year award and Wenger thinks the defender has what it takes to succeed at the highest level of English football.

According to Football Insider via the Express, Arsenal have reached an agreement with Bolton for the 21 year old. It is believed the bid is worth £1.5m including performance related add ons.

Tottenham and Everton were also interested in the defender but the 21 year old had already decided he is interested in moving to Arsenal.

The defender will become Arsenal’s second summer signing following the club’s capture of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.
