Everton have completed the signing of Arsenal target Henry Onyekuru, according to Teamtalk.com.
Onyekuru was heavily tipped to move to Arsenal, after we triggered his release clause last month. Personal terms weren’t expected to be a problem but the forward has now snubbed our approach to choose Everton as his next club.
The winger finished last season as joint highest goalscorer in the Belgian League with 22 goals to his name and that led to interest from the Premier League.
It was Arsenal and West Ham who were believed to be front runners in the race to sign the forward but Everton have apparently jumped ahead and have completed a shock swoop for the 20 year old.
The forward have now agreed personal terms with the Toffees and have also undergone a medical as Koeman’s men look to snap up one of last season’s brightest talents.
According to the report, Everton have reached an agreement with Anderlecht that will enable Onyekuru continue his development at the Belgium side on loan next season.
Everton’s move for the young striker will come as a surprise to a lot of Gooners who were confident he will be moving to the Emirates. Although he would be a big miss, Arsenal’s chances of signing the lad has been slim since he granted an interview, stating he would only join a club that will offer him regular playing time.
He was always likely to get that at Everton in the nearest future than he would at the Emirates.
