The summer window is only weeks away, but transfer dealings have started gathering momentum ahead of the official opening of the transfer market.
Arsenal have been beaten in the race to sign Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic from Belgian side Anderlecht.
This report is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that fellow Premier League side Newcastle United have moved quickly to snap up Mitrovic ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and Swansea City.
The report says that the Magpies have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million for the striker who has scored 20 goals so far this season for Anderlecht.
Mitrovic who is rated as one of Europe’s fast rising strikers – being only 20-years-old, has been courted by several big clubs in recent months.
If this report is true, then Arsenal would have missed out on a sensational star for the future as the player has been compared to one of modern-day football best Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
