Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Wellignton Silva from Fluminese, according to reports.

The Brazilian winger played for Arsenal youth team before he returned to his homeland last summer but he is now set for a move back to Europe just one year after.

Growing up, Silva was one of the brightest talents you could find in Brazil and Arsenal were quick to snap him up. However he didn’t impress at the Emirates, failing to make a single league appearance for Arsenal before he was sold back to Fluminese.

It appears he has kick-started his career with his return to his homeland and is attracting interest from Europe again. This time, it is Bordeaux who are looking to sign him.

According to the Daily Cannon, Arsenal included a first right of refusal clause when he was being sold to Fluminese. So Wenger plan to activate this clause for the agreed £3.1m and then sell him to Bordeaux for £4.4m.

Talks between Fluminese and Arsenal are already in an advanced stage, which means the deal could be completed in the coming days.

A profit of £1.3m is a good way to repay Arsenal for the important role it played in the winger’s development in his first stint at the club.

Silva scored seven goals for Fluminese last season.
