Arsenal teenage striker Yassin Fortune has signed his first professional contract with the Gunners and has his sights set to achieve big things at the Emirates.
Fortune, 17, joined the Gunners in the summer of 2015 from French side Lens as part of a double deal that also saw compatriot Jeff Reins-Adelaide arrive.
Since the duo’s arrival, it is Reine-Adelaide who has been grabbing the headlines and he remains on the fringes of the first team squad.
Though Fortune is yet to feature in the UEFA Youth League, he has however been impressive for Frans de Kat’s youth side. The future star is a regular for Arsenal under-18s this season,and has scored seven times in just 15 league appearances. His performances has also earned him an appearance for the under-21s despite Arsenal possessing a wealth of talent in attacking areas at that age group.
The versatile youngster who can feature both as a striker and as an attacking midfielder posses elegance on the ball and an ability to dribble past defenders.
The intriguing prospect has in the past likened himself to Arsenal’s very own Danny Welbeck “He is the one I like to watch and learn from today as I play on the left wing and as a striker,“Fortune said.
“Like Welbeck, I like to play for the team and help create goals, but scoring goals brings the biggest happiness for me. It’s a special feeling.”
The next step for Fortune would be to break into the under 21 first team, with the amount of talent he possess it’s definitely upwards and onwards.
