The summer seems to be looking good for Arsenal fans with the Gunners set to sign Mahrez according to an Italian source after Alexandre Lacazette completed a club record move to the Emirates Stadium.
Mahrez has been linked to Arsenal since he helped Leicester to a shocking Premier league title win last year, winning the PFA player of the year award in the process. He signed a new deal with the club last season after they reportedly repelled an Arsenal approach for him, but he is keen on playing in Europe this season, and the club is reportedly willing to let him go if one of the big clubs come calling.
Tancredi Palmeri of the Italian daily Gazetta believes that a move for the Algerian international is imminent “Arsenal near Mahrez, last year was just a step” the writer wrote on his twitter account.
Though the 26-year old’s form dipped last season along with that of the club, but he is still highly rated with top European clubs reportedly interested in getting his signature and with 121 games for Leicester under his belt, he represents an option with very valuable Premier league experience.
Should the deal materialize, he will be joining club record signing Alexandre Lacazette who scored 129 goals in 275 games for Lyon, and free signing Sead Kolasinac as new additions at the Emirates.
