Arsenal have been handed the final blow in their pursuit of sensational winger Clinton Njie after fellow north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur officially confirmed the signing of the star last weekend.
The Spurs have beaten Arsenal to the signature of Lyon star Clinton Njie, and have officially announced the signing of the winger with a public statement via the club’s official twitter account.
Njie who participated in the 2015 Emirates Cup with now former club Lyon, have been heavily linked with a move to both Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks.
The Spurs had been tipped as favourites to land the 21-year-old Cameroonian ahead of the Gunners.
Last week however, many thought the Gunners had caused an upset and had signed up the pacy winger ahead of their noisy neighbours after comments from Lyon’s President casted doubts over the deal, telling the French media that a second English club had also tabled an offer for the player.
“Clinton Njie’s departure is not complete. We have received an offer from another big English club which is complicating things.”
The reports also claim the Gunners had made an eleventh-hour bid to hijack the deal, but Daniel Levy and his team sealed the transfer on time, avoiding what would have been a huge embarrassment to the club.
