Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is closing in on a move to AS Roma, according to reports.
The Poland international’s future has been up in the air all summer but it is now close to being resolved.
The goalkeeper is expected to join AS Roma on a season long loan for the second year in a row. He will arrive at the Italian capital on Wednesday with a view of completing the move by the end of this week.
According to Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via Football Insider, the player will undergo a medical at the Italian club on Thursday before completing his move.
Arsenal reached an agreement with Roma last week following lengthy negotiations between both clubs since the end of last season.
The goalkeeper will join Roma on loan with the option for Roma to make the move permanent for £13.4m at the end of the season.
This will serve as a huge boost to Roma manager Luciano Spalletti who never hid his desire to retain Szczesny’s services. The player himself was also keen on a return to the Italian capital and repeatedly told Arsenal of his desire to return to Rome.
Everton were targeting a late move for the goalkeeper but it appears the move to Roma is all but done and Szczesny will be playing in the Serie A next season.
