Arsenal officially announced a deal for Ireland youth international Jordan McEneff.
The Republic of Ireland youth international signed a two-year deal with the Gunners this week after impressing on trial in North London.
Steve Morrow, Arsenal’s head of recruitment, recommended the youngster to Arsene Wenger after noting his eye-catching performances in Ireland and he’s one of a number of youngsters to sign on scholarship terms this week.
And now he has aspirations to rise to the very top and play for the first-team.
He told the Coleraine Times: “I’ve settled in really well in London.
“I know all the boys at the digs from coming over this past couple of years. When you’re at Arsenal it’s obviously the aim to one day play for the first team.
“So I’m playing for the next contract and hopefully I can get a bigger and better one and then move on through the ranks – up to the U23s and then on to the first team some day.
“It’s exciting. Especially when people back home are so supportive.”
McEneff becomes the first Irish player to sign for Arsenal since Anthony Stokes who left the club in 2007 without an appearance.
