Arsenal have reportedly agreed a fee to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka at the end of the season.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates in the past. It has also been reported that the Gunners are prepared to return for the midfielder’s services this summer after the failed attempt to sign him in January.
With the club reportedly preparing to overhaul the midfield and Wenger has identified Xhaka as a prime target and has reopened negotiations to sign the midfielder.
According to Sky Germany via the Metro, Arsenal have told Monchengladbach that they would pay as much as £34m to sign the midfielder this summer.
Wenger met with the player’s representatives last week and it is believed that the club are prepared to offer the midfielder a whooping £120,000 a week salary should he complete the move to the Emirates.
Arsenal could wrap up the signing as soon as possible as the midfielder has already indicated his interest in moving to the Premier League this summer.
‘I think everybody has a dream,’ he said.
‘Everybody has a childhood dream and that’s my childhood dream. If my dream comes true, it remains to be seen. At the moment I cannot say how realistic it is.’
Xhaka has been impressive for Monchengladbach this season helping them to fifth position on the Bundesliga table.
