Arsenal are reportedly keen on landing one of Ligue 1’s best defenders this summer.
Arsene Wenger is interested in snapping up one of the key players of the Monaco side that stopped his team from progressing into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The Arsenal boss is interested in signing Monaco centre back Aymen Abdennour after a hugely impressive first season with the French outfit.
Popular French football expert Matt Spiro gave this tip in a tweet, claiming the 6’ 1” tall defender is on Wenger’s radar this summer.
The 25-year-old’s agent last month also claimed that the Gunners are interested in his client and have sent scouts on various occasion to watch the Tunisian in action for Monaco.
However, he added that Arsenal are not the only club watching with keen interest, with PSG and Tottenham among several other clubs across Europe lurking.
‘He has only just extended his contract with Monaco,’ he said.
‘Everything is going well for him. I think he has proved today that he is one of the best in his position in Europe.’
‘He is only 25 and a lot of clubs re interested in him. Arsenal do not miss any of his matches. They were there again [at Monaco vs Juventus]. They know him very well.’
‘Other big clubs like Tottenham are also interested. Some big Spanish and Italian clubs are very interested.
‘PSG are very interested in him. They really have an eye on Aymen. But we are not yet at the negotiation stage. PSG have only just been eliminated from the Champions League. The club has other things to deal with. But for his progression, the only club capable of signing him in France is PSG.’
‘We do not have any offers yet. Now it is not yet time to make offers. Now is time for approaches. But things will go very quickly as soon as the season is over.’
