Arsenal’s move for Uruguayan target Lucas Torreira may have been stalled till after the opening campaign of the World Cup after reports suggest the club has not reached an agreement on Torreira’s agent’s fee but personal terms.
The 22-year-old agreed to sign to Arsenal after the English outfit agreed to pay Sampdoria €25 million for his release. But rising complications over his agent’s fee has halted any chances of landing the defensive midfielder before the World Cup in Russia.
According to Di Marzio, Torreira will not be able to leave the Italian outfit until around June 15th. The report claims that the agent has asked to be given more time to consider the offer initially tabled by Arsenal for the youngster.
Torreira was excellent for Sampdoria last season. He is known to be careful with the ball to a good extent and a solid guard in the line of Sampdoria’s defence.
SampNews24 claimed that Arsenal had already closed the deal to sign the Fray Bentos local and were willing to slap in cash immediately but due to the complexities involved in his agent’s fee, Arsenal may have to consider another approach.
Getting the deal for Torreira done will definitely be in the Gunners favour before the World Cup. Players of Torreira’s talents are likely to experience an increase in their valuation if they perform impressively on world stage.
