Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has revealed that he is impressed by January signing Mohamed Elneny after the duo started together in Saturday’s goalless draw against Hull City.
Wenger made nine changes to his side that started against Leicester City a week ago as he prepared for Tuesday’s game against Barcelona.
The Gunners who had several of their first team members missing couldn’t get past a highly spirited Hull City as they were forced to a goalless draw despite having more than 20 shots in the game.
Hull City goalkeeper Jakupovic who was superb on the day thwarted the Gunners on several occasions to keep a cleansheet.
Despite the scoreline, Flamini was particularly impressed with his midfield partners Elneny and Iwobi.
“I think they both[Elneny and Iwobi] played very well,” he told Arsenal’s official website. “They were very good in their positions, very good technically and also in transition [both] defensively and offensively. It was a good partnership and I enjoyed it but we have to continue now.
Elneny who signed for Arsenal from FC Basel looks to have settled into the squad easily and after his performance on Saturday, one could say the player has a bright future at the club.
Iwobi was recently promoted to the Gunners first team and the 19 year old didn’t fail to impress Wenger on the pitch.
The Gunners will now have to replay the game at the KC Stadium.
