Former Arsenal Winger Robert Pires believes Arsene Wenger will not take England job.

The English FA is interested in making Wenger the next England boss and for sometime has been exploring the possibility of hiring the 66 year old.

The manager whose contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season is said to be keeping his options open and will wait until the last minute before making a decision on his future.

Although, Pires admitted that Wenger would be a success should he take up the national team job, he doubts if it suits the manager’s style.

Pires believes Wenger loves to be involved in football a lot and the prospect of managing a national team wouldn’t afford him the opportunity of making football decisions on a day to day basis.

‘I speak with Arsene Wenger every morning and we haven’t spoken about this,’ Pires said at the Leaders In Sport Business Summit [via The Daily Mail]. ‘Of course a lot of people want to see him manage England and they certainly need a manager like him.

Everybody knows he’s a great person and a great manager.

‘It would be a great opportunity for England, I don’t know if it would be for Arsene Wenger. It’s not the same job, club or country,’ Pires added.

‘This guy loves the pitch every morning. It’s a passion. It’s an obsession. It’s not really the same when you manage a country,’ the Frenchman claimed.

‘If he takes this job he would need to adapt to the new challenge, it’s not really the same.’

Managing a football club and a national team are two different things while the former needs you to be actively involved in the day to day running of a football team, the later affords you the opportunity of a break.

Wenger has spent all his career as manager of a football club and it would not be easy for him to switch to managing a national team. However, the French man is getting older by the day and withdrawing from the pressure of every day football might do him a lot of good.
