Alexis Sanchez reportedly wants wages of £400,000 a week to sign on at Arsenal.
Arsenal have apparently tabled a new deal worth in excess of £275,000-a-week. That would make him the club’s highest-paid player ever, but Sanchez is holding out for a further £125,000-a-week, according to the Mirror.
Arsene Wenger is desperate not to sell the 28-year-old to Manchester City – a direct Premier League rival.
It is added, though, there is a growing feeling Sanchez will subsequently see out his contract and leave for free next summer.
In my own opinion, this Sanchez contract saga is begining to drag too long, if Alexis refuses Arsenal’s new £300,000-a-week contract offer, then the club should let him run out his contract.
In December, Alexis would be 29, a declining age for wingers in modern day football. He should be allowed to leave next summer for free when he would be approaching 30 years and I can bet you no club will be willing to offer him a long term contract and equally pay him £250,000-a-week by then.
