Arsene Wenger is confident that Alexis Sanchez will remain at Arsenal next season.
The Chilean’s contract runs out next term and has refused to sign a new deal which led to interest from a host of clubs within and outside England.
However, Wenger has no interest in selling the forward and is adamant he would keep him even if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
And the boss who has been in touch with Sanchez in recent days in a bid to resolve his future is now confident that the Chilean will be an Arsenal player next season.
‘Of course,’ Wenger said when asked if Sanchez will remain an Arsenal player.
‘There is not a lot to resolve with the player. I have spoken through text and it was very positive. My thoughts are always positive.’
Sanchez is currently on holiday in his native Chile, after helping them reach the finals of the confederations cup where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Germany. He is expected to return for preseason later this month and whether he will commit his future to the club like Wenger has suggested remains to be seen.
Reports in Chile are suggesting the Chilean is determined to play Champions League football next season and could still leave the club since Arsenal can’t offer that.
It’s obvious the Sanchez transfer saga isn’t going to end anytime soon but if Wenger is positive, we as Gooners need to stay positive.
