Arsenal have reportedly completed a deal for FC Basel’s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny. According to reports, what is left for the deal to be concluded is for Arsenal and the player to reach an agreement on personal terms and the player subject to passing his medical.
The Gunners need a new midfielder to help ease the growing list of injured players at the Emirates. Majority of Arsenal midfield players are out injured while players like Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flaming and Mike Arteta are all out of contract by the end of these current season.
The Egyptian international is said to cost the a gunners £5 million to move from Swiss outfit FC Basel to the Emirates.
The Gunners main target in the midfield is Southampton’s Victor Wanyama but it would be very difficult for the Saints to sanction his sale by January so the Gunners could swoop for Elneny; who is available while hoping to sign Wanna make in the summer.
The Egyptian could deputise for the injured Francis Coquelin and in the absence of Jack Wilshere; who could also play in the midfield position. Arsenal need reinforcement especially in the middle of the park if they are to sustain a bid to win their first premier league crown since 2004
