Finally: Wenger Plotting £25M Schneiderlin Switch In January to Solve DM Woes

Arsene Wenger will go into the winter window in search of some shield for a caving defense and reports have it that he’s finally reading to cough up £25m for Southampton’s much talked-about midfield shelter man, Morgan Schneiderlin according to Express.

Reports have it that the 25-year old is ready for a move in January having been initially prevented by the Saints Management to move to White Heart Lane in the summer, and the feeling is that should both clubs submit bids, the player, who has frequently talked about his Champions League ambitions, would favour a move to the Emirates.

Schneiderlin is certainly the kind of defensive midfielder which Wenger is in desperate need of at the moment, as neither his captain Arteta nor Mattieu Flamini are capable of providing the shelter certainly necessary for the Arsenal defence to stand the test of the campaign. Schneiderlin had desired a move from Southampton last summer following the wholesale departures of other members of the first team including Adam Lallana, Calum Chambers and Rickie Lambert. He was, however, convinced against his wish and has go on to settle back into Ronald Koeman’s side, even giving a better account of himself at this early stage of the season.

Imperious in the middle of the park as a holding player, he has now added more goals to his game this term showing an excellent technical side of his game. Wenger now believes he is the perfect man to feel the burning hole in our midfield, adding much needed physicality to the team.

Perhaps Southampton did him (and us) a favour in the summer by turning down Tottenham’s offer for him (can’t believe his just 24!). Schneiderlin still has great ambitions for his career, having made it to the French squad for the World Cup by gaining the meat off some other’s poison. He wants to play in the Champions League and a January move will guarantee him just that.

We’ve been linked with several defensive midfield players, talks already in a very advanced stage with a 16-year old Bielik according to reports. But Schneiderlin appears to be the most solid option amongst all mooted about as possible acquisitions in the defensive midfield role. He has the sufficient experience of the Premier League, closer to his peak than Carvalho and is arguably very hungry for more success than the likes of Khedira. He must be sensing a chance to get a permanent role in the French National Team, with Cabaye not playing regularly for his club at PSG. A move to a top club will gain him more attention from Didier Deschamps, no less one managed by fellow Frenchman Arsene Wenger.

As with Yohan Cabaye last season, Schneiderlin could still show a desire to move on despite deciding to stay on after an initial interest on him. He fits our profile, and we fit his. A double header with Monaco awaits us in the Last 16 of the Champions League next year and I can only imagine he will be giving everything to be involved, especially as there is a real chance we could go some distance beyond that. The Saints will fight tooth and nail to fend off any requests in January, but we must make the necessary enquiry, and force the issue.

£25m must be forceful enough.

    Saints fan in peace here.

Think I should draw your attention to the fact Koeman, when interviewd earlier this week, stated that Schneiderlin would NOT be sold in January. Guess the news hasn’t filtered north of Hampshire yet then?

How many times have I got to say that I am under contract with Southampton and going nowhere else this season. However ,please point out to Mr. Wenger that he may be interested in a friend of mine who cleans the toilets at St. Mary’s. He’s versatile, will tackle anything, and well used to fluid passing movements.
        Kind regards,

    Don’t bet on it?

Dear Boy, you need our player more than we need your money.

    Don’t bet on it?

That’s what arsenal and spurs said over the summer. Saints said no. Where is the affectionately named Spiderpig now?

    Don’t bet on it?

Koeman has said nobody leaves in January. So does the Board.

No don’t bet on it. Keep your money for buying players that are for sale.

Really? Don’t bet on it? So the words of Saints manager carries less weight than a shabby newspaper and a two bit blog then? Don’t bet on it…
