Arsenal are reportedly set to send young defender, Calum Chambers out on loan in the January transfer window, according to reports. The 20 year old is set t re-join Southampton; a side he left when he signed for the Gunners in the summer of 2014 for £16 Million.
The 20 year old England international has been given little game time this season despite his versatility which can see him play as a Central defence, right back and defensive midfield role. He was set to provide defensive midfield cover for the Gunners when Francis Coquelin got injured; but the timely return to match fitness of Aaron Ramsey saw that opportunity vanish into the thin air.
According to the Sun, Chambers is finally set to join the Saints on a six months loan deal starting in January till the end of the season. The defender has fallen down the pecking order behind Lauren Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel Paulista and Hector Bellarin; despite the England youngster being able to play as a right back or as a central defender.
A move back to Southampton could offer him more playing time to develop his game and match fitness in preparation for the new season ahead; as he would be desperate to prove to Wenger that he is capable of mixing in with the first team at the Emirates.
