Arsene Wenger is set to splash out the sum of £44m on two midfield stars this summer, according to a report in the Daily Star.

With the departure of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini this summer all but confirmed, Wenger is very keen on strengthening his squad before the start of next season.

The French man is reportedly closing in on a move for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka while he is also said to be lining up a move for Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante.

Reports in France claim Arsenal have already held talks with Kante’s representatives and the player has indicated his desire to move to the Emirates while reports in Spain claim Xhaka’s move to Arsenal is already a done deal with the club looking to put finishing touches on the deal required to bring the Swiss midfielder to the Premier League.

These news will serve as a huge boost to Arsenal fans who have been urging Wenger to be more active in the transfer market.
