Former Arsenal winger Freddie Ljungberg believes people undervalue Arsene Wenger’s good work at Arsenal.

The Gunners boss is celebrating his 20 years anniversary at the club but it has not been all rosy for him. He has had to endure unfair criticism especially in recent years due to failure to win a major title for the club.

The height was a protest by the fans when Arsenal faced Norwich City at the Emirates last season. Some fans called for the French man to be sacked for because he has failed to win the Premier League title for more than a decade.

However, Wenger was successful in the early years of his Arsenal career and Ljungberg believes the French man is still the same as he was when he newly joined the club, claiming the boss still has the same hunger to succeed.

“I think people underestimate his hunger to succeed sometimes,”  Ljungberg told the London Evening Standard, as quoted by the Daily Express.

“He is polite and respectful in interviews but he hates losing.

“He wants to win as much as anyone else.

“When you hate losing that is a gene than you are born with and I do not think Arsene is ever going to lose that.

“Arsene loves coaching. He is on the field all the time and you have got to enjoy it if you are going to be doing it for 20 years.”

Wenger won three Premier League titles and four FA cups in his first eight years at the club but has only won two FA cups in the last twelve years.

Things are beginning to look different this season, the team is showing signs that it can successfully challenge for the league title again and the fans will be hoping they can deliver this year.
