Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has predicted that Monaco midfielder Fabinho could make a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window. The Brazilian has impressed across his three campaigns at Monaco and was heavily linked with a Premier League move in the summer. However, a move to England never materialised ahead of the 2017/18 season.

It’s believed Arsenal, Man United and Manchester City all expressed an interest in the talented Brazil midfielder and Pires has suggested that it’s only a matter of time before he’s performing in the English top flight.

Asked about the chance of the Red Devils landing Fabinho, Pires told Bwin: “I think this could happen in January, or next summer. Manchester City could also be interested, but they’ve got Fernandinho at the moment, who is playing very well.”

The Gunners made a £90million move for Fabinho’s team-mate Thomas Lemar in the summer, and Pires feels the Gunners’ wishes of signing the Frenchman may be over. He claimed: “Arsene [Wenger] tried to buy Lemar and tried very hard, but I don’t think the move will happen now.
