Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has opened up on the Gunners missed opportunity to win the League this season while also clarifying his future ahead of next season.
The midfielder who currently has two years left in his current deal have reportedly been offered a contract extension by the club. It is believed that the new deal will see the midfielder hit the £200,000 a week mark, therefore making him the highest paid player in the club’s history.
The midfielder has always insisted that he is in no rush to enter into negotiations with the club as regards signing a new deal but it now appears talks between both parties would be held in the next couple of months as the German international revealed via the Daily Express that there won’t be any discussion on his future until after the European Championships this summer.
He said: “I have two years left on my contract and will be in talks with the club. Now I’m concentrating on the Euros in France.”
The midfielder also talked on the Gunners failed attempt to win the Premier League title this season claiming “lack of team work” required to beat smaller teams was responsible for the team’s failure in the league race.
He said: “We dropped a lot of points that we should not have dropped
against the ‘smaller teams’ and that was the point in the season where we did not work as a team.
“Especially after the Barcelona game we were just not good enough to take a point.”
Arsenal finished the season second on the league table 10 points behind winners Leicester City.
