Pep Guardiola has insisted he is happy with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus as his strikers despite Alexis Sanchez being linked with a transfer to the Etihad.

Sanchez has refused to sign a new Arsenal contract despite months of negotiations which has led to Europe’s top clubs expressing an interest in him.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain have all looked at Sanchez to varying degrees, but Arsenal’s stance has been to keep the player in the hope he eventually signs a new deal.

The 28-year-old told reporters in Chile that he wanted Champions League football but Wenger responded by saying the former Barcelona star would not be leaving this summer.

Should Sanchez stay at Arsenal and not commit his future, he could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.

City have an abundance of attacking options with Aguero, Jesus, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Bernardo Silva all at Guardiola’s disposal for the upcoming season.

And for the moment, Guardiola appears to be content with what he has, claiming City don’t need any more additions.

He said: “Alexis is a player from Arsenal. Arsene said that, it’s because he knows more than me.

“We have two really good strikers in Sergio (Aguero) and Gabriel (Jesus), so in that position we are good. The problem we had last season was Gabriel was injured for a long time and I would have liked to see Sergio and Gabriel in more games together.

“We created a lot of chances but there was a lack of goals, it was a problem last season.”
